Year 4

Stemworks

STEMworks visited year 4 to take part in the Worcestershire Primary STEM challenge. The challenge aims to inspire and prepare the children to drive the future economy of Worcestershire and beyond.

It is a unique opportunity for children to learn about structures and mechanisms and apply this knowledge to solve a construction challenge.

Working in pairs, year 4 became wonderful engineers and used their creative thinking and problem solving to design a vehicle with a moving part. We were so impressed with their perserverance. A huge well done to all of year 4 and especially to Alfie C and Austin who have been chosen to represent team Tardebigge in the finals.

Trinity High School Athletics

Year 4 enjoyed a wonderful morning at Trinity High School to take part in some sports hall athletics. There were a range of activites involving skills such as balancing, throwing, jumping and running. These were all lead by the fantastic sports leaders from Birchensale Middle School and Trinity High School. Our children were not only in competition with each other but with children from some of the other local first schools. All of year 4 showed excellent perseverance and enjoyed the challenges they were presented with. We are looking forward to finding out the results.

Condover

The children in year 4 have done their residential at Condover Hall. They took part in a range of activities, including: aerial trek, trapeze, raft building and archery tag. The class really challenged themselves, and built confidence and personal qualities through the activities and staying overnight. We are so proud of their perseverance and resilience!

Art

In year 4, we have been inspired by the artist JMW Turner in our art lessons. Today we admired and sketched the beautiful  view we have from school and then added watercolour paints to our landscape portraits back in the classroom. We  learnt that Turner often liked to experience the landscape he was creating (once tying himself to a boat sail so he  could feel the waves and water!) We also definitely experienced the icy wind blowing at us, but it was well worth it  to see the amazing art created as a result!

 Letter from Diocese

We are thrilled to receive a letter (and an upcoming visit) from the Director of education for our Worcestershire Diocese, Tim Reid, in response to Year 4’s letters that they sent to him last week.

They practised their formal letter writing skills by writing to thank the Diocese for paying for the summer building work in refurbishing our new year 4 classroom.
Well done year 4!
